Road Runner is a well-known character from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated cartoons created by Warner Bros. The character made his debut in 1949 in a cartoon called "Fast and Furry-ous," where he was featured from the beginning with his eternal adversary, Wile E. Coyote.

Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote are famous for their ongoing cat-and-mouse game, with Wile E. Coyote attempting numerous times to catch the lightning-fast Road Runner using complex devices and plans that usually fail, often with hilarious and explosive results.

Road Runner is known for his incredible speed and agility, which he always uses to escape the many traps set for him by Wile E. Coyote. Most of the cartoons featuring Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote are set in the American desert of the Southwest.

The show's creator, Chuck Jones, had a set of rules for the cartoons. One was that Road Runner was never allowed to torment Wile E. Coyote by himself. Any misery that came upon the coyote had to be the result of his own actions.

The character of Road Runner remains popular to this day and is a beloved part of animation history.
